A very short extract, but somewhat telling. Here we see that Kawai Saei`mon fell ill on the 5th of the 5th month, and that a son of Keigaku (Sunozaki Keigaku) decided to commit ritual suicide because he was suffering from leprosy. The record later states that Kawai died suddenly, and notes that he was what we may presume to have been a leader of the ikki (or an `otona`).
